JBL 4530 or save for cubo 15?

Hello!

Swedish student here, think its best to keep it in english to minimize the misunderstanding but feel free to answer in danish.

I have built a boominator and it sound awesome, only missing a little of the low end...

I saw an add on facebook of two homemade 15" JBL 4530 and imediettly started to investigate.  The seller didnt know anything about them more then that he thinks they are 200W at 4ohm. So i guess i might need to replace the element to a newer and better one. I have looked at Eminence Kappa-15LFA or the Kappalite 3015LF or P.audio SD15-1700EL.

The boominator is mostly used outside on campus with smaller pre-parties or barbecues.

The seller wants 1000 sek (720 dkk) for both horns ( I will probably only use one of them)

Do you guys think this could work or should i save my money and buy / build a cubo 15 instead?

If you think this cabinet can do the job, what elemnt should i switch to?

Thanks,

Josef

Welcome to the forum ?what I am aware of, the first Swedish user ?

The jbl speakers you have found is in a scoop cabinet.

400 watt should be fine, for 12v.

As long as it have a high spl.

If I were to build subs for a boominator, I would go for Tham 12 or cubo 12,to do it portable.

maybe two Tham 12, think the are slim enough to be two on a trolley, and if you lucky, you would be able to turn them each way, so you play both ways like the boominator. But I am not sure about phase problems.

I agree with Ganon, definitely go for something lighter and smaller. You'll be tired of having to bring the big scoop every time. Even a 10" sub could work (Tham 10 or other horn style cabinet).

Thanks, i'll let these slide and wait to build a smaller box on my own or see if there are any for sale close to the swedish border ?

Or try to ask at Speakerplans.com/forum.
There are maybe someone in there that might sell something usefull :)
